Meet our Staff

Andrew B. Stephens, PT, ATC
Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer

Andrew Stephens Andrew grew up on Orcas Island, graduating from Orcas Island High School in 1988. He earned his B.S. in Psychology at the University of Washington and his M.S. in Exercise Science at Western Washington University. He was a varsity oarsman at the University of Washington and later coached crew at Western Washington University. He was awarded his B.S. degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Washington in 1998.

After working for Swedish Medical Center, Providence Campus, for 3 1/2 years, Andrew returned to Orcas Island to manage the Physical Therapy practice at the medical center as an Island Hospital employee. In June, 2004, he assumed ownership of Orcas Island Physical Therapy, PLLC. Andrew has strong interests in the treatment of sports injuries and orthopedic conditions.

Scott Heisinger, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy

Scott Heisinger Scott grew up in Bellingham, graduating from Sehome High School. He studied music at Western Washington University and then transferred to Whitman College. At Whitman he earned his BA in Music Performance with a minor in Chemistry. He studied physical therapy at the University of Southern California and graduated in their inaugural DPT class in 1998.

Scott returned to the Pacific Northwest to practice physical therapy in the outpatient setting. He started working in Sumner, WA before transferring to his home town of Bellingham. He directed Northwest Physiotherapy Associates there prior to joining Orcas Island Physical Therapy, PLLC in June, 2006. Scott has a strong interest in the treatment of vestibular disorders and orthopedics.

Nancy Frey, PTA
Physical Therapy Assistant

Nancy received her Physical Therapist Assistant Certificate from DeAnza Community College in California and was licensed in 1975. She arrived on Orcas Island in 1988 with her husband, Mark Edmonds, and their children. Three years later she facilitated opening the Physical Therapy Department at the Orcas Island Medical Center, when it was owned by Island Hospital. In addition, Nancy is certified in Cross Cultural Music for the Health Practitioner.
